V stands for VERTEX, One stands for this is the first switch product we launched, and it also means the version number. The V1.0 version is always so exciting, which means that it has gone through scrutiny and polishing from 0 to 1.

The assembly of switch is almost completed by an automatic line. For the application of lube, we adopted the new precision spray technology, combined with the classic lubrication process, which can get better factory lubrication.

On the V One, the materials of the three injection molded parts are all new formulas during the design process, which have never appeared in the material selection range of all JWICK’s original switch products. Even the top housing and the bottom housing use PA66 as the main material, to target the sound and performance of what we wanted.

  • Single-point contact of the stem gives a cleaner and more concentrated sound profile.
  • With our enhancement of mold design and precise control of the parameters, we eliminated potential stem shaking when bottom-out.

Spring

V One uses a custom-made spring with a thicker outer diameter (4.10mm), without metal surface treatments (generally referred to as gold plating). This is not because the cost of gold plating is high, but because of gold plating or other surface treatments will directly affect the pressure difference value of the spring preset, which will greatly affect the consistent performance in the plan.

FAQs

Jwick is the official name of 精微科, the community has been known them as JWK because it's from their initial letter. 精微科's budget line of switches are known as Jwicks by the community, which also happens to be their official name. Vertex V1 switch are NOT using the mold of the budget switch line, but rather, a uniquely co-developed line of premium switch from Vertex and Jwick.

This is Lolo from Vertex.

Finally, we can introduce the first switch of VERTEX, and I am very honored to be able to cooperate with JWICK on the design of this switch. We have been considering a switch design for a long time. However, themed design with only changing switch color is obviously not what we want. We want a design that is truly customized from the ground up.

Our goal for this switch design is to base on the classic MX stem type and improve the performance through mold customization, and at the same time,market them at a reasonable price, so that it can become a enduring and timeless switch design.

Mold design

The V One switch uses an eight-cavity mold, which is the highest specification in JWICK production, and all internal structural surfaces have been treated with Mirror surface EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) for precision.

Kudos to Mr. Li, who is the owner of the JWICK. He relentlessly worked with us for the new mold design.

All aspects of design have been optimized to eliminate drawbacks of previous JWICK molds. Most importantly, with the same smoothness, the gap between stem and housing has been reduced to 0.025mm, which has never been achieved before.

The first version of mold was actually completed long time ago. Since then, we have been in the cycle of doing mold adjustments, producing and testing samples.

Production Process

Injection Molding

V One switches are produced in JWICK's new factory. What is exciting is that this mass production can leverage the state-of-art Sumitomo SE100EV-A Injection Molding Machine - a huge upgrade.

Metal parts

The moving and static parts on V One have also been iteratively renewed, and gold-palladium alloy contacts have been used. The metallic ping sounds are also minimized without affecting the performance and smoothness.

Assembly line

The assembly of switch is mostly completed by autonomous assembly line. For the application of lube, we adopted a new precision spray technology, combined with the classic lubrication process, which can get better factory lubrication.

Automated QC

Assembled V One will first go through the automated QC machine to tests such as:

  • Conduction
  • Contact Resistance
  • Voltage Insulation Strength
  • Travel Distance

Manual QC

V One will also go though another manual QC to meet high expectations of the typing feel and sound performance of a custom mechanical switch.

We enhanced V One QC with additional procedure to include the screening of metallic ping sound, so that V One switch can be closer to the goal of no manual lube.

Manufacturing Capacity

JWICK dedicated 3 injection molding machines for the V One production and a new automated assembly line. This will help us meet the rolling production support. So that we can keep V One in stock with continuous delivery.
